On Friday, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) marked International Women’s Day with a celebration at its premises, focusing on the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” Experts hailed the role of DST schemes in empowering women scientists and fostering a significant rise in women researchers and principal investigators across the country.

DST, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, emphasized the importance of investing in women’s health, education, and professional development during the event.

Gynaecologist Dr. Aparna Sharma and Cardiologist Dr. Shashi Mohan led discussions on prioritizing the physical and mental well-being of women and the challenges they face in maintaining a work-life balance. They emphasized the importance of self-care and adopting healthy lifestyles to overcome these challenges effectively.

A session on the role of women in startups featured women entrepreneurs and industry experts sharing their experiences, challenges, and success stories. The discussion highlighted the significant potential of women-led startups in driving inclusive economic development and fostering innovation.

As part of the celebration, a film titled “Nari Shakti at DST” was created and unveiled, showcasing the contributions and achievements of women within the department.

Additionally, a dental health check-up camp was organized by the Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences on the DST premises, promoting oral hygiene and overall well-being among participants.

The event served as a platform to recognize the vital role of women in science and technology, encouraging further investment in their empowerment and advancement. With initiatives like these, DST continues to support and nurture women scientists, paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive scientific community in India.
