Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the need for continuous efforts in fortifying healthcare systems to ensure their resilience in the face of pandemics. He stressed the importance of providing affordable and accessible healthcare services even in remote areas of the nation. This declaration was made as he inaugurated various health infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), National Health Mission (NHM), and XV Finance Commission Health Grants. The event took place in the presence of Shri. Keshab Mahanta, State Health Minister of Assam, in Guwahati, Assam. Dr. Mandaviya also delivered a keynote address on the Transformation of Healthcare during the Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat @2047, Development Dialogue. Shri Rameshwar Teli, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Labour and Employment, participated in the event through virtual mode.

Dr. Mandaviya reaffirmed the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, emphasizing that a healthy society forms the foundation for a prosperous nation. He highlighted India’s efforts in developing a robust ecosystem that leverages its manpower to build resilient healthcare systems capable of handling any health emergency. He attributed the inception of PM-ABHIM to this unwavering pursuit.

Dr. Mandaviya commended the healthcare development initiatives in Assam, emphasizing the need for affordable and accessible healthcare through the development of robust infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of research and development and initiatives like “Heal in India, Heal by India”. The Union Minister emphasized the need for integration at various levels of healthcare infrastructure to monitor and respond to new variants or diseases.

Dr. Mandaviya praised the growth of medical, dental, and nursing colleges in Assam, considering the ceremony a crucial milestone in strengthening healthcare infrastructure. He expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare reaches every citizen, even in critical times.

  1. 50 Bedded Critical Care Block at Lakhimpur Medical College under PM-ABHIM
  2. Block Primary Health Unit at Baithalangso BPHC under PM-ABHIM
  3. Block Primary Health Unit at Harinagar BPHC under PM-ABHIM
  4. Block Primary Health Unit at North Guwahati PHC under PM-ABHIM
  5. Block Primary Health Unit at Saphekhati BPHC under PM-ABHIM
  6. Block Primary Health Unit at Suakuchi BPHC under PM-ABHIM
  7. Integrated Public Health Laboratory at Jakhalabandha SDHC under PM-ABHIM
  8. Sasoni Community Health Centre under XV-FC Health Grants

Inauguration of Projects:

  1. Upgradation of Bhetagaon CHC to Bijni SDCH
  2. Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Chenga, Barpeta District
  3. Upgradation of 100 Bedded RNB Gossaiagaon SDCH
  4. Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Nityanandpur, Hailakandi District
  5. Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Haluwating, Sivasagar District
  6. Community Health Centre and Residential Quarters at Nasatra, Barpeta District
  7. Upgradation of Tamulpur BPHC to SDCH
  8. Strengthening of Titabor SDCH

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the uniqueness of India’s healthcare system, tailored to its needs, strengths, and abilities. He emphasized India’s four-tier healthcare system, spanning grassroots to tertiary levels, with 1,66,000 Health and Wellness Centres spread across rural and urban areas. These centers provide a range of healthcare services and facilitate secondary and tertiary level consultations, saving patients time and money.

During his address at the Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat @2047, Dr. Mandaviya underlined the government’s commitment to empowering the youth and urged them to innovate and contribute to building a healthier nation. He also mentioned India’s vision of extending healthcare services globally, allowing the nation’s skilled health workforce to pursue international opportunities.

Dr. Mandaviya concluded with a vibrant Q&A session with the audience. Officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, representatives from various organizations, and government officials from both central and state levels were present at the event, with several joining virtually.
