Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, as well as the Minister of State for PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, emphasized the crucial role of a public-private partnership (PPP) with an integrated approach in achieving a ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ (TB-free India). This vision is inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to making India TB-free by 2025. Dr. Singh made these remarks while inaugurating the SMVD Narayana Healthcare TB Mukt Express in Udhampur, under the banner of ‘Chalo Chale TB Ko Harane’ (Let’s Go, Let’s Defeat TB).
He underscored that India’s endeavor to eradicate TB by 2025 serves as a global model and urged citizens to come together in the true spirit of Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) to eliminate TB. Dr. Singh highlighted the profound societal and economic impact of Tuberculosis and noted that the Government of India has accorded high priority to achieving a ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ by 2025. He emphasized the significant role that Biotechnology will play in the comprehensive healthcare approach to combat Tuberculosis.
Dr. Singh outlined that strategies like involving the private sector, active case detection, decentralized services through Health and Wellness Centers, community engagement, and the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana have revolutionized India’s TB management efforts, placing the patient at the center. As part of the program, Dr. Singh also distributed kits to TB patients in his parliamentary constituency to support their daily needs, contributing to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of a TB-Free India by 2025.
