In a significant reshuffle aimed at bolstering the administration of medical education and practice in India, the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has announced the appointment of Dr. B.N. Gangadhar as the Chairperson of the National Medical Commission (NMC). This appointment, along with others to key positions within the NMC and its Autonomous Boards, marks a pivotal step in strengthening the medical regulatory framework in the country.

Dr. Sanjay Behari – The Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, has been appointed as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board. His appointment falls under Section 17(2) of the NMC Act, 2019. Dr. Behari’s extensive experience in medical sciences and technology is anticipated to enhance the assessment and rating processes of medical institutions across the country.
  2. Dr. Anil D’Cruz – Serving as the Director (Oncology) of Apollo Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. D’Cruz has been appointed as a whole-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board. His appointment is also in accordance with Section 17(2) of the NMC Act, 2019. Dr. D’Cruz’s expertise in oncology and postgraduate medical education is expected to contribute significantly to the development and standardization of advanced medical training programs.
  3. Dr. Rajendra Achyut Badwe – Professor Emeritus at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, Dr. Badwe has been appointed as a part-time member of the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board for a period of two years. His appointment will last until he attains the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever comes first. Dr. Badwe’s vast experience in medical education and oncology will be invaluable in shaping the future of undergraduate medical education in India.
