New Delhi: Two prominent doctors’ associations, the Doctors Association of Jammu (DAJ) and the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA), have jointly called for a high-level inquiry into alleged financial and procedural irregularities within the Delhi Medical Council (DMC). In separate letters addressed to the Union Health Minister and the Health Minister of the Government of NCT of Delhi, the associations have expressed deep concern over alleged favouritism, mismanagement, and defiance of government orders.
FORDA, in its letter, specifically implicated key office-bearers of the DMC, including its president and vice-president, in a series of violations. These allegations, initially raised by Dr. Pankaj Solanki, an elected DMC member and former FORDA president, point to serious concerns regarding recruitment manipulations, financial discrepancies, and a persistent failure to adhere to government and General Body Meeting (GBM) directives.
The DAJ letter further raised concerns about the lack of transparency and accountability within the DMC. The association warned that vested interests might attempt to obstruct justice, harm whistleblowers, or destroy crucial evidence. FORDA echoed these concerns, emphasizing the urgent need for protective measures for those who have come forward to expose the alleged corruption.
Both associations have collectively demanded an independent, high-level investigation to ensure accountability and prevent further erosion of trust in the medical regulatory framework. The associations stressed that the credibility of medical governance in Delhi is at stake and that urgent corrective measures are essential to restore public confidence.
“The allegations brought forward are deeply concerning, and they strike at the heart of the regulatory body overseeing medical professionals in the capital,” stated a spokesperson for FORDA. “We urge the authorities to take immediate action to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry.”
The DAJ representative added, “It is imperative that transparency and accountability are restored to the DMC. We cannot allow vested interests to undermine the integrity of medical governance.”
The associations have called for swift action to address the alleged irregularities and restore trust in the regulatory framework governing medical professionals in Delhi. The outcome of the requested inquiry is awaited by the medical community and the public alike.
