Jalandhar, Punjab – A shocking incident involving a doctor at a private hospital in Jalandhar has sparked outrage after videos surfaced on social media allegedly showing him snorting drugs during duty hours and assaulting a woman. The Punjab government has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
The first video, reportedly filmed secretly by a woman, shows the doctor using a credit or debit card to crush a white powdery substance and then sniffing it. When the woman refused to stop recording, the doctor is seen snatching her phone, abruptly ending the footage. A second viral CCTV clip reportedly captures the same doctor allegedly slapping a woman in the presence of bystanders. The incidents are said to have taken place in Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, though the doctor is employed at a private hospital in Jalandhar.
Following the circulation of the videos, Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh directed officials to conduct a thorough inquiry, with Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Lal and Rama Mandi police leading the investigation. The Health Department has also been instructed to depute a drug inspector to assist in the probe.
Speaking to the media, Dr Balbir Singh stated, “The Punjab government maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, regardless of who is involved.” He assured that strict action would be taken against the doctor and emphasized the government’s commitment to ethical conduct and public safety within the healthcare system. The minister also acknowledged the role of the media in bringing the issue to light.
