Amethi, March 1, 2025 – A doctor at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital has been booked for alleged medical negligence following accusations of performing surgery while intoxicated, which reportedly led to the death of a patient. The hospital authorities have denied the allegations, and an official inquiry has been launched.
According to the Amethi police, an FIR has been registered against the doctor based on a complaint filed by the deceased patient’s family. Additional Superintendent of Police Harendra Kumar stated that while the allegations are serious, the autopsy report has not yet confirmed the exact cause of death. A panel of medical experts will further investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
Hospital officials have refuted the claims, clarifying that the patient, identified as 75-year-old Shivram Mishra, suffered from severe cardiac issues. They stated that he underwent angioplasty under the supervision of experienced doctors and that all necessary efforts were made to stabilize his condition.
Congress MP K L Sharma confirmed that an inquiry is ongoing and assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. He also noted that the patient’s family had been informed about the potential risks associated with the procedure given the patient’s fragile health condition.
The case has sparked widespread discussions about medical accountability and patient safety. Authorities urge the public to await the official findings before drawing conclusions.
