Jagatsinghpur: In a tragic incident, a doctor in Jagatsinghpur district has been booked following the death of 29-year-old Kamini Kandi, who reportedly suffered complications after undergoing a sterilization procedure.
The case was registered after Kamini’s husband, Mr. Gopal Chandra Muduli, filed a First Information Report (FIR) alleging medical negligence. According to his statement, Kamini’s health deteriorated soon after the operation, necessitating her transfer to SCB Medical College in Cuttack, where she passed away the following day.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter. Preliminary findings from the community health center where the procedure was performed indicate that a drug reaction may have contributed to her death. However, the final cause will be determined after the completion of an autopsy.
The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the bereaved family, acknowledging the severity of the situation. The case has also sparked debates about the quality of medical procedures and the accountability of healthcare professionals in government-run facilities.
Further developments in the investigation will shed light on whether procedural lapses or negligence played a definitive role in Kamini Kandi’s death.
