NEW DELHI — The Delhi government is set to significantly enhance its public healthcare infrastructure by adding more than 30 new dialysis machines in its hospitals, outsourcing MRI, CT scan, and ultrasound services under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, and constructing VishramGrih (rest houses) for patients and their attendants. These initiatives were reviewed at a recent Health Department meeting chaired by Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on June 18.

Officials stated that 150 dialysis machines are already operational across 16 hospitals under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme – Public Private Partnership (PMNDP-PPP) model. The planned expansion will add another 32 to 40 machines in the near future, further strengthening dialysis services for patients in the national capital.

The meeting also addressed several other key measures aimed at improving healthcare delivery. These include ramping up manpower across healthcare institutions, forming new health councils and committees, and setting clear timelines for implementation. The agenda covered the status of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, critical care blocks under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), the rollout of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and the centralised procurement system.

Additionally, discussions focused on outsourcing outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) registration services, addressing staffing gaps at hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, upgrading the Hospital Information Management System, and ensuring the procurement of essential medicines. The constitution of various councils and identification of sensitive posts within the health department were also on the agenda.

A senior official confirmed that timelines have been issued by the Health Minister, with most work expected to be completed within three to four weeks and, in some cases, by the upcoming month.
