New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that her government is making steady progress in its plans to improve doorstep medical facilities. This will be achieved through upgrading existing clinics and opening new ones, with the goal of creating 1,139 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
“Under the PM-ABHIM scheme, the Centre has provided funding to build 1,139 Arogya Mandirs in Delhi. These Mandirs will provide treatment facilities to every resident of the city,” CM Gupta stated at an event commemorating World Liver Day. She emphasized her government’s dedication to providing healthcare facilities to all residents, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
CM Gupta highlighted the importance of a robust health infrastructure in the country and specifically in Delhi, noting that the capital provides medical services to people from all over India. She also acknowledged the need to strengthen hospitals and upgrade technology to meet the healthcare needs of the population.
She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) health insurance scheme in Delhi, calling it “not just an insurance scheme but an assurance scheme.” She assured that the support from the Central government is being utilized to improve services for the people.
CM Gupta also reiterated her commitment to organ donation and announced that her government would soon launch an awareness campaign to promote this cause.
In the Budget 2025-26, presented on March 25, CM Gupta allocated ₹320 crore for the expansion of Health and Wellness Centres (HWC)/Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) to ensure better primary healthcare facilities. This includes the establishment of 400 HWC/AAM, which will serve as the new version of the previous government’s ‘Mohalla Clinic’ scheme. An additional ₹2,144 crore was allocated for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana health insurance, along with ₹1666.66 crore proposed for the PM-ABHIM scheme to strengthen critical care blocks and diagnostics.
