The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against six individuals, including Sudhir Kumar Pradhan, an assistant administrative officer at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, for their alleged involvement in a recruitment scam. The scam enabled four relatives of Sruti Sagar Kar, an employee of Bombay Intelligence Securities (India) Limited, to secure permanent jobs at AIIMS by using forged educational and work experience certificates. The certificates were purportedly issued by a non-existent institution, Shree College of Paramedical Sciences, Ghaziabad, affiliated to the Allied Healthcare Council of India, and fraudulent experience certificates citing employment at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur were also used.
The CBI’s preliminary inquiry and investigations revealed that Pradhan, heading the recruitment cell, was aware of the forgery but allowed the candidates to continue their employment. Rajashree Panda and Sangram Mishra were appointed as sanitary inspectors, while Sai Sagar Kar and Sambit Mishra were hired as medical record technicians. The agency conducted raids at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and other locations, seizing evidence as part of its ongoing probe into this case, which reportedly began in July 2023 and extended to June 2024.
The AIIMS Bhubaneswar administration has stated full cooperation with CBI investigations, emphasizing that the recruitment tests were conducted by a central PSU and that the establishment itself was not directly responsible for the irregularities.
Disclaimer: The accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments may arise as more evidence is examined by authorities.
