Patna, August 1, 2025:
Bihar’s Sheohar MLA, Chetan Anand, has filed a police complaint against members of the staff at AIIMS Patna, alleging that both he and his wife were subjected to misbehaviour and physical assault during a visit to the hospital late Wednesday night.
According to the legislator—who recently shifted allegiance from RJD to JD(U)—the incident unfolded when he and his wife went to visit a supporter admitted to the hospital. “My wife and I had gone to see one of my supporters admitted at AIIMS on Wednesday night. I was not allowed to enter the hospital with my security guard. This prompted my wife to intervene,” Chetan Anand told journalists.
He further alleged that when his wife tried to intervene, other staff members “started misbehaving with my wife. They literally thrashed her. I had to intervene. My wife sustained injuries to her wrist and back. I was also held hostage by the staff for some time,” he claimed.
Anand and his wife subsequently went to the local police station to lodge a formal complaint. He added that his mother, Lovely Anand, is the current JD(U) MP from the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat.
When approached about the incident, Patna City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed that police have received complaints from both the MLA’s side and the AIIMS administration. “Complaints have been received from both sides, including AIIMS administration, pertaining to the incident. A case has been registered and further investigation is on,” Singh stated.
