New Delhi/Lonavala, May 4, 2025:
India has witnessed a dramatic rise in the number of beneficiaries availing Ayush healthcare services, with figures soaring from 1.5 crore in 2021 to over 11.5 crore in 2025, according to Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) Conclave in Lonavala, highlighting the government’s commitment to expanding traditional healthcare access across the nation.

Key Highlights

  • Massive Growth in Beneficiaries:
The number of people benefiting from Ayush services has grown nearly eightfold in just four years, reflecting the government’s focus on integrating traditional systems of medicine into the mainstream healthcare framework.

  • Strategic Expansion:
The establishment of 12,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush Wellness Centres) has played a pivotal role in making healthcare services more accessible, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

  • Infrastructure and Manpower:
Improved infrastructure, increased availability of medicines, and a boost in trained manpower have been cited as key drivers behind the surge. Strengthened educational institutions have also contributed to the sector’s growth.

  • Policy and Collaboration:
The NAM Conclave, first held in 2023, provided a platform for ministers and senior officials from various states and union territories to share insights and formulate an action plan for the effective implementation of the National Ayush Mission. This collaborative approach has been instrumental in the mission’s success.

Minister’s Remarks

Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav, who holds independent charge of Ayush and is also Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, expressed confidence that the second edition of the NAM Conclave would further strengthen governance, promote innovation, and streamline financial processes. He emphasized the importance of rapid and effective implementation of programmes at the grassroots level and extended his best wishes to teams working at both central and state levels.

Roadmap for the Future

The NAM Conclave set the stage for a future roadmap, aiming to consolidate and expand the outreach of Ayush services across India. The focus remains on enhancing accessibility, improving service delivery, and ensuring that traditional healthcare systems continue to benefit millions more in the coming years.
