New Delhi – The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has announced the launch of the J. C. Bose Grant (JBG), a prestigious new funding scheme aimed at recognizing and supporting the outstanding contributions of senior Indian scientists and engineers. This initiative seeks to enhance cutting-edge research in various scientific and technological fields through extra-mural funding opportunities.

ANRF, the apex body responsible for setting the strategic direction of scientific research in India, operates in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP). The foundation is dedicated to fostering a culture of research and innovation while strengthening the country’s research ecosystem through capacity-building initiatives at all levels.

The J. C. Bose Grant is tailored for senior researchers who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in their respective fields. Eligible candidates must showcase a proven track record of excellence, including a robust portfolio of publications, patents, technology transfers, awards, and grants. The grant encompasses various domains, including science and technology (S&T), agriculture, medicine, and even interdisciplinary fields involving humanities and social sciences at the intersection of S&T.

To qualify for the grant, applicants must be active senior Indian scientists or researchers, holding at least a Professor-level position or an equivalent rank at an Indian institution or university. The funding program provides an annual research grant of Rs. 25 lakhs for a duration of five years. Additionally, an overhead allowance of Rs. 1 lakh per year will be allocated to the implementing institution. If the Principal Investigator (PI) reaches superannuation during the tenure of the grant, the funding may continue, subject to the host institution’s willingness to accommodate the PI. The grant is available for researchers up to the age of 68.
