NEW DELHI: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has achieved a significant milestone by being ranked among the world’s top 100 hospitals for 2024. According to the latest “World’s Best Hospitals 2024” list, compiled by Newsweek and global data firm Statista, AIIMS Delhi stands at 97th place globally.
This prestigious ranking, now in its sixth edition, evaluates over 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries. The assessment considers multiple factors, including recommendations from over 85,000 medical experts, patient satisfaction survey results, hospital quality metrics such as hygiene standards and patient-to-doctor ratios, and the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
AIIMS Delhi’s inclusion in the top 100 is a testament to its long-standing commitment to providing high-quality, affordable healthcare, advancing medical research, and upholding excellent clinical outcomes. Established in 1956, the institution is recognized as a pioneer in India’s healthcare sector, renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and highly skilled medical professionals.
Two other prominent Indian hospitals also featured on the global list, highlighting the country’s growing presence in international healthcare standards. Medanta-The Medicity in Gurugram secured the 146th position. Founded in 2009, Medanta has established itself as a leading private healthcare provider, noted for its cutting-edge technology and expertise in complex fields like cardiology, oncology, and organ transplantation.
The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh was ranked 228th. Since its inception in 1962, PGIMER has been celebrated for its significant contributions to medical education, research, and specialized patient care, serving as a vital healthcare and training center in North India.
The presence of AIIMS Delhi, Medanta, and PGIMER in this global ranking underscores the advancements and capabilities within the Indian healthcare system, reinforcing the nation’s potential to deliver world-class medical care.
