The event also saw the presence of Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Leader of Opposition and Former Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh.

The inauguration ceremony, which included the unveiling of Radiation Oncology, a 128 Slice CT Scanner, and a Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) plant, symbolizes a significant step towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure in the region. Additionally, the foundation stone for a Vishram Sadan (night shelter) at AIIMS Bilaspur was laid, aiming to provide essential amenities for patients and their attendants.

Addressing the gathering, Shri J.P. Nadda underscored the transformative efforts of the Union Government in bolstering the health sector, evident in the expansion of the AIIMS network and other pivotal initiatives such as the doubling of medical colleges, augmentation of MBBS and PG seats, and the establishment of nursing colleges and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. He emphasized the government’s holistic approach to healthcare, encompassing preventive, curative, palliative, and rehabilitative measures, with a particular focus on the landmark Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), which provides comprehensive healthcare coverage to eligible individuals in Himachal Pradesh and across India.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya lauded the inauguration of 12 new facilities at AIIMS Bilaspur, collectively valued at over Rs. 400 crore, emphasizing the government’s commitment to converting challenges into opportunities. Despite the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, India’s healthcare system has emerged stronger, better prepared to address future challenges, thanks to strategic investments in healthcare infrastructure and technology.

Shri Anurag Thakur praised AIIMS Bilaspur for its swift completion within a mere three years, highlighting the Union Government’s dedication to delivering timely and quality healthcare infrastructure to remote areas. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming Vishram Sadan, which will provide much-needed relief to patients and their families traveling from distant regions.

The dignitaries also toured the newly inaugurated facilities, including the Cardiac Cath Lab, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), and Laundry, showcasing AIIMS Bilaspur’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art healthcare services.

AIIMS Bilaspur, an institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, was conceived to address the gaps in tertiary healthcare availability. With the introduction of advanced facilities such as radiation oncology, a 128 Slice CT Scanner, and an LMO plant, AIIMS Bilaspur is poised to deliver superior patient care and further strengthen the healthcare landscape in Himachal Pradesh and neighboring states.
