Bhopal, May 29, 2025 — In a significant stride towards improving emergency medical response, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal has launched a new mobile application, ‘Code Emergency’, designed to empower both the general public and healthcare professionals with life-saving knowledge and tools.

The launch, held on World Medicine Emergency Day, was led by AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director, Ajai Singh. The initiative aligns with the Madhya Pradesh government’s ‘One State One Health One Emergency’ policy, aiming to streamline and democratize access to emergency medical guidance across the state.

Key Features of ‘Code Emergency’

  • Inclusive Design: The app is tailored for use by both medical professionals and laypersons, making emergency response accessible to all.

  • Bilingual Support: Available in both Hindi and English, the app ensures wider reach and usability.

  • Offline Functionality: Once downloaded, the app works seamlessly without the need for an internet connection—a crucial feature in areas with limited connectivity.

  • Audio-Visual Guidelines: Users are guided through life-saving procedures such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with clear, age-appropriate instructions.

  • Comprehensive Emergency Information: A dropdown menu provides quick access to protocols for various emergencies, supporting the ‘One State One Health One Emergency’ vision.

Ajai Singh emphasized the app’s potential to revolutionize emergency care: “Through audio-visual guidelines, the app enables users to administer CPR and potentially save lives anywhere. It includes age-appropriate instructions for all age groups.”

The app will soon be available for free download on the Google Play Store.

Training and Awareness Initiatives

To mark the app’s launch, AIIMS Bhopal also organized a hands-on CPR and First Aid training session for media personnel, equipping journalists with essential life-saving skills. Singh stressed the importance of widespread awareness campaigns to ensure maximum benefit: “An awareness campaign about this application should be carried out so that more and more people can know about it and get benefitted.”

Looking Ahead

‘Code Emergency’ is poised to become an indispensable tool, not only for healthcare providers but also for ordinary citizens, potentially transforming the landscape of emergency medical response in Madhya Pradesh and beyond.
