The study examined 30 years of osteoarthritis data (1990-2020) from over 200 countries and revealed that currently, 15 percent of the world’s population aged 30 years or older experience osteoarthritis.
In 2020, the study conducted by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in Washington, US, as part of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021, discovered that 595 million people were affected by osteoarthritis. This marked a significant increase of 132 percent from the 256 million people reported in 1990.
