For thousands of medical graduates preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025, the growing speculation regarding a possible exam postponement has become a major source of stress. Aspirants say the uncertainty is disrupting their preparation and future career plans, leaving them anxious and frustrated.
Concerns Over Potential Delay
The National Medical Commission (NMC) had initially announced June 15, 2025, as the scheduled date for NEET PG. However, reports suggest a possible delay due to the prolonged NEET PG 2024 counselling process, which was expected to conclude in mid-January but has now extended into March. This has raised doubts about whether the 2025 exam will be held as planned.
For many students, this situation feels all too familiar. In 2024, NEET PG was postponed multiple times, initially scheduled for March 3 before being delayed to July 7, then preponed to June 23, and finally rescheduled again—just 12 hours before the exam—to August 11. These repeated disruptions have deeply affected students’ confidence in the examination system.
“Constant Uncertainty is the Real Problem”
While some students acknowledge that a postponement could provide extra study time, most feel that the unpredictability of the schedule is the biggest challenge.
“For interns currently preparing for NEET PG, an extended timeline could be helpful, but for those waiting to join junior residency, the delay causes financial and career-related difficulties,” said a NEET PG aspirant, speaking anonymously.
“The bigger issue is the uncertainty itself. With no fixed schedule, we are stuck in a loop of anxiety, unable to plan our next steps,” she added.
Many students also feel trapped in a dilemma regarding residency applications. “We don’t even know whether to start our junior residency or wait. If there was a definite timeline, we could plan accordingly,” another aspirant said.
“We Have Lost Trust in the System”
Beyond the scheduling chaos, students say their trust in the system has eroded.
“Looking at last year’s multiple postponements, we have no idea what to expect. We have lost faith in the authorities’ ability to conduct the exam properly,” said Utkarsha, another NEET PG candidate.
The growing anxiety is also fueled by concerns over exam integrity. “Repeated postponements only increase stress. On top of that, there are constant rumors about paper leaks—every few weeks, we see fake alerts on Telegram claiming that the NEET PG paper has been leaked. This kind of speculation puts immense pressure on students,” she added.
Students Demand Clarity and Stability
For medical graduates, NEET PG is more than just another exam—it determines their future specializations, career trajectories, and the next phase of their professional lives. Given these high stakes, aspirants say clear communication from the authorities is crucial.
Many students are now demanding that NMC and NBE (National Board of Examinations) provide a definitive timeline to avoid unnecessary stress and confusion. Until then, they remain caught in a cycle of delays and last-minute changes, hoping for clarity in a process that has long been marred by unpredictability.
