Lucknow, March 1: A case has been filed against three doctors and several staff members of a private hospital in Khadra following a court order, for alleged medical negligence and extortion. The case revolves around the tragic death of a patient, Mr. Alam, after his family claimed the hospital provided improper treatment and demanded excessive charges.

Mrs. Muskan, a resident of Golaganj, accused the hospital of misleading her husband, who was initially receiving care at the KGMU Trauma Centre. She stated that the hospital enticed Mr. Alam to transfer, assuring better treatment. However, once admitted, he reportedly received substandard care. Mrs. Muskan claims that an unqualified staff member, posing as the hospital director, administered excessive oxygen, worsening Mr. Alam’s condition and contributing to his deterioration.

Further allegations include extortion by the hospital, as the family was forced to pay ₹1.5 lakh for bed charges. Even after Mr. Alam’s passing, the hospital demanded an additional ₹50,000 for ventilator usage, despite the fact that the ventilator had already been disconnected. Despite multiple requests, Mrs. Muskan was denied a death certificate by the hospital authorities.

After Mrs. Muskan sought legal recourse, the court directed the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) on February 24. The authorities are now investigating the claims, and the accused hospital staff is facing serious charges as the inquiry continues.

The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, raising concerns over the ethical practices of private healthcare institutions and the unchecked exploitation of vulnerable patients and their families.
