Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Over 200 people in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, were hospitalized on Saturday after falling ill due to suspected food poisoning. The incident occurred after the individuals attended a ‘bhandara’ (community meal) organized at a temple in Mamoni Kala gram panchayat, with people from several nearby villages in attendance.

Local authorities reported that several villagers experienced symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, and fever following the event. In some cases, one or two members from each household were affected, and locals have expressed concern that the number of cases may rise further.

Upon receiving distress calls, a team from the Shivpuri District Hospital swiftly arrived at the scene and set up a medical camp to attend to the patients. Dr. Sanjay Rajeshwar, District Medical and Health Officer, shared that the majority of the patients have responded positively to treatment and are recovering. However, around 60 patients are still in critical condition and are being treated in the district hospital under close observation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that food poisoning could be the cause of the outbreak, with food samples taken for further analysis. While the results of the investigation are pending, Dr. Rajeshwar confirmed that none of the patients lost consciousness, and their conditions are improving with medical care.

“A team of six doctors has been deployed to monitor the situation closely,” said Dr. Rajeshwar. “While most are showing signs of recovery, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the affected individuals receive the care they need.”

The community remains on high alert, and health officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the food poisoning to prevent further incidents.

Disclaimer: The information provided in this report is based on preliminary investigations and statements made by local authorities. The final cause of the food poisoning will be confirmed after the investigation report is completed. The health condition of the patients is subject to change, and ongoing medical care is being provided to those affected.
