A large quantity of government-supplied medicines were found dumped in a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. The discarded medications, which included tablets and syrups with several months of validity remaining, were discovered near Budhkhanari in Darhal tehsil on Sunday, officials confirmed.

Clips of the discarded medicines circulated widely on social media, sparking public outrage. Local residents claimed that a vehicle carrying the medicines had dumped its contents at the location and demanded severe punishment for those responsible.

In response, Chief Medical Officer (Rajouri) Manohar Lal Rana announced that an inquiry had been ordered into the incident. He assured the public that strict action would be taken against those found guilty. A three-member committee, headed by the Darhal block medical officer, has been formed to investigate the matter and identify those involved for appropriate action.

The incident has raised concerns about the management of government-supplied medicines in the region. It is unclear why the medications were discarded, especially since they had a significant amount of time left before expiring. The investigation is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident and the people involved.
