Gurugram, January 5, 2025 – Quick commerce giant Blinkit has unveiled a revolutionary 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram, marking its first foray into healthcare services. The initiative, aimed at addressing critical gaps in emergency medical response, promises rapid deployment of ambulances equipped with advanced life-saving tools at an affordable cost.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking at a press briefing, lauded the innovative approach but stressed the importance of adhering to legal frameworks. “Blinkit’s new ambulance service must strictly follow the law of the land and ensure all operations meet the necessary legal requirements. No laws should be compromised in pursuit of innovation,” he remarked.

The ambulances, designed for swift response, are equipped with oxygen cylinders, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, and emergency medicines. Blinkit’s Founder and CEO Albinder Dhindsa highlighted the pressing need for reliable and accessible ambulance services, particularly in urban centers, and announced plans to expand the initiative nationwide within the next two years.

“We are committed to addressing critical healthcare challenges through innovative solutions. This service reflects our dedication to improving access to emergency care,” said Dhindsa.

The move has drawn widespread attention for its potential to transform emergency medical services across India. However, experts have echoed Minister Goyal’s caution, emphasizing the importance of compliance with health, transport, and safety regulations to ensure the initiative’s long-term success.

Blinkit, known for its rapid delivery of essentials, now aims to blend speed and efficiency with critical healthcare support. If successful, the initiative could set a new benchmark for integrating technology with public health services.
