Bengaluru, January 4, 2025: Shri J.P. Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the new campus of the School of Advanced Studies at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA) University in Bengaluru today. This milestone event underscored the government’s commitment to integrating traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern education and healthcare practices. The Minister also launched DIGI-Vyasa, a digital learning platform, and Vyasa TV, a dedicated broadcasting channel.

Advancing Holistic Education and Healthcare

S-VYASA, a pioneering institution in Yoga, Naturopathy, and Ayurveda, has expanded its academic offerings to include Engineering, Computer Applications, and Management. The new campus embodies the vision of blending traditional wellness systems with cutting-edge technology and industry collaboration under the tagline “Education Meets Industry.” It aims to foster holistic development and innovation in healthcare and education.

Addressing the audience, Shri Nadda praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in transforming India’s healthcare landscape. “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, significant policy changes have ensured that our health system is holistic and comprehensive. The integration of AYUSH and modern medicine is a prime example of this transformation,” he said.

Collaborative Healthcare Models

The Minister highlighted the government’s collaborative approach, where modern medicine practitioners refer patients to AYUSH treatments when beneficial, and AYUSH practitioners guide cases requiring modern medical interventions. “This synergy between traditional and modern medicine is fostering integrated care and delivering promising outcomes,” he added.

Shri Nadda also emphasized the establishment of AYUSH blocks in all 22 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Ministry of AYUSH’s partnerships with 103 countries. “The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized India’s leadership by establishing the Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, poised to become the global hub for traditional medicine studies and innovations.”

Strengthening AYUSH Research and Infrastructure

The Minister underscored the strides made in AYUSH research, with Centers of Excellence collaborating with premier institutions like the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He highlighted S-VYASA’s research contributions, noting that its Anvesana research center has published over 1,000 acclaimed papers in leading international journals.

“A 600-bedded Arogya Dham, integrating traditional and modern medical practices, has been established, and the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy in Haryana was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Modi,” Shri Nadda said. “These efforts are advancing AYUSH beyond traditional boundaries, aligning it with modern science and global standards.”

Recognition of S-VYASA’s Contributions

Commending S-VYASA’s role in promoting holistic education and healthcare, Shri Nadda said, “S-VYASA is imparting education that bridges modern science with age-old traditional knowledge. The institution is a shining example of how traditional wisdom can complement cutting-edge advancements.”

The event also witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swamiji, Dr. H.R. Nagendra, founder and vice-chancellor of S-VYASA, Ministers of State Shri V. Somanna and Smt. Shobha Karandlaje, Member of Parliament Shri Tejasvi Surya, and industry leaders like Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys.
