“The Centre is dedicated to provide diagnosis, treatment, counselling, prevention, and education for patients and families with rare diseases. Additionally, research in the area of rare diseases is in progress,” the post stated.
To address the high treatment costs associated with many rare conditions, the MoHFW has also launched a crowdfunding portal to help raise funds for these initiatives. Accessible at rarediseases.mohfw.gov.in, the portal aims to connect donors with patients in need, offering a lifeline to families burdened by exorbitant medical expenses.
This initiative reflects AIIMS New Delhi’s enduring commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare. Established in 1956, AIIMS has been at the forefront of medical education, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive healthcare services in India.
By taking on this critical role as a Centre of Excellence, AIIMS New Delhi is poised to make significant contributions to the understanding and management of rare diseases, offering hope to thousands of patients and their families across the country.
