In a major push to enhance healthcare quality at the grassroots level, the Ministry of Ayush has launched a significant drive to standardize and improve services through the Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) network. This initiative, which includes the NABH Ayush Entry Level Certification (AELC) and a nationwide series of geriatric health camps, aims to provide high-quality, accessible healthcare to India’s most vulnerable populations.

The Ministry has set a target to certify 1,000 AAM Ayush facilities with the NABH Entry Level Certification by September 2024. This certification, developed in partnership with the Quality Council of India (QCI), is a crucial step toward ensuring that government-owned Ayush Healthcare Centers meet rigorous standards of quality and patient safety. To date, 750 facilities have already achieved this certification, underscoring the progress of this ambitious project.

In addition to certification efforts, the Ministry is spearheading a nationwide initiative to address the specific healthcare needs of the elderly. From June 2024 to September 2024, a total of 10,000 geriatric camps are being organized across India. These camps are designed to provide comprehensive health assessments and tailored advice on managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, bronchial asthma, osteoarthritis, and other age-related issues.

The geriatric camps utilize a specially designed screening proforma to conduct initial health assessments. Elderly participants receive personalized advice and follow-up care instructions, including dietary recommendations and ongoing management plans, which are to be maintained through local Ayush healthcare facilities.

A dedicated portal has been established to streamline the organization of these camps, with over 9,673 centers already registered. Out of these, 2,957 camps are currently operational. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with State and Union Territory Ayush Colleges, Research Councils, National Institutes under the Ministry of Ayush, and various other stakeholders.

The National Ayush Mission, in collaboration with state governments, is committed to delivering accessible and high-quality healthcare services across the country. The successful implementation of the NABH Ayush Entry Level Certification and the comprehensive geriatric camps are significant milestones in achieving this goal, demonstrating the Ministry’s dedication to improving healthcare standards and reaching underserved populations.

For further details and updates, stakeholders and the public can visit the dedicated portals and stay informed about the ongoing developments and future initiatives.
