In a significant move to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the country, the government has introduced three groundbreaking initiatives. These initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in improving healthcare accessibility and standards nationwide.

The newly launched measures include the virtual National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) assessment for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), a comprehensive dashboard for monitoring compliance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS), and a spot food license and registration initiative for food vendors.

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, emphasized the government’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure. “The government has established over 1.73 lakh AAMs, doubled the number of medical colleges since 2014, increased the number of AIIMS from seven to 23, and more than doubled the number of PG and MBBS seats since 2014,” he said. “We are committed to strengthening the healthcare system with more skilled human resources and quality infrastructure that can tackle both present and future medical challenges.”

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, highlighted the expected impact of these initiatives. “The launch of the virtual NQAS assessment and dashboard will lead to improvements in providing quality healthcare in public health facilities. The spot food license initiative will enhance the Ease of Doing Business in India,” she stated.

The NQAS for Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHL) aims to enhance the quality and competence of management and testing systems, thereby improving the reliability of test results. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the credibility of public health laboratories across the nation.

The spot food license initiative is a revolutionary step that allows for the instant issuance of licenses and registrations through the Food Safety and Compliance System (FoSCoS). FoSCoS is a pan-India IT platform designed to address all food safety regulatory needs, simplifying the process for food vendors and ensuring better compliance with food safety standards.

Minister Patel reiterated the government’s long-term vision, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of building a robust and quality healthcare infrastructure by 2047. “We are working diligently to realize this vision, ensuring that our healthcare system is well-equipped to meet the demands of the future,” she added.

These initiatives mark a significant stride towards a more efficient and reliable healthcare system, reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring healthcare for all. The focus on quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and streamlined processes is expected to bring about substantial improvements in the nation’s healthcare landscape.
