The Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, underscored the imperative need for a wellness-oriented approach in healthcare during the inauguration of several significant healthcare facilities across various medical institutions.
The inauguration ceremony included the unveiling of the Accident & Emergency Block at Lady Hardinge Kriplani Hospital, the New Hostel Block at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Research (ABVIMS) & Dr. RML Hospital, the Sports Injury Centre at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) & Safdarjung Hospital, and the Academic block & New Hostel Block at Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mandaviya stressed the critical role of the wellness approach, stating, “As current and future doctors, we must orient our approach of wellness towards deferring ailments and diseases.” He highlighted the significance of an integrative approach in propagating wellness to prevent ailments effectively.
Dr. Mandaviya commended the government’s dedication to ensuring comprehensive healthcare for all, attributing these advancements to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized the goal of working holistically in the health sector by synergizing preventive healthcare and modern medical facilities.
The Minister celebrated the strides made in healthcare services, especially in remote areas, citing initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, aimed at fostering equality and accessibility in healthcare. He emphasized the Government of India’s efforts to bolster health infrastructure, reduce treatment costs for the underprivileged, and rapidly increase the number of doctors and medical seats in the country.
Highlighting India’s unique healthcare system, Dr. Mandaviya underlined the four-tier healthcare framework operating from grassroots to tertiary levels. He praised institutions like Ayushman Arogya Mandir, bridging gaps by providing a wide array of healthcare services and linking underserved communities to secondary and tertiary consultations, thus saving time, costs, and ensuring care accessibility.
Dr. Mandaviya also acknowledged India’s commitment to global health services, reflecting the country’s philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. He emphasized India’s dedication to prioritizing research and development, as seen in initiatives like Heal in India, Heal by India.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities from the medical fraternity, including Dr. Atul Goel, Director General Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Subhash Giri, Director, Lady Hardinge Medical College, senior government officials, and faculty members, amplifying the significance of these initiatives towards the nation’s healthcare advancement.
