A World Health Organization (WHO) team conducted a visit to Gaya city in Bihar to investigate an enigmatic ailment afflicting the region.

Over 300 individuals in Patwa Toli village, Gaya, have fallen ill in recent weeks, presenting symptoms that have stumped doctors attempting to pinpoint the nature of the disease.

Reportedly, those affected complain of persistent fever and joint pain, leading locals to dub the condition as “Langda fever,” as patients recover from fever yet struggle to walk properly due to joint discomfort.

Dr. Ranjan Kumar Singh heads a medical team dedicated to monitoring the situation, but as of now, no effective medication or treatment has been identified.

The WHO team’s focus lies in uncovering the viral source of the illness, believed to intermingle with the patients’ bloodstream.

Medical practitioners in the area draw similarities between the symptoms observed and those of dengue and chikungunya. Blood samples have been collected from patients and dispatched to the Patna laboratory for a complete blood count (CBC) test.

“Once the test results are in, we’ll be able to determine the nature of the disease,” stated the local doctors.
