In a village within Bihar’s Gaya district, over 300 individuals have fallen ill with an unidentified illness over the past few weeks, as confirmed by an official. The occurrences of this sickness are concentrated in Patwa Toli village, perplexing doctors who have yet to pinpoint its cause.

According to villagers, those affected experience a fever lasting two to three days followed by persistent joint pain. Dubbed “Langda Fever,” patients recuperate from the fever but continue to struggle with impaired walking due to joint discomfort.

Dr. Ranjan Kumar Singh, the District Civil Surgeon, has taken action by dispatching a medical team to Patwa Toli to administer treatment. “The symptoms resemble those of dengue and chikungunya, prompting us to collect blood samples for CBC testing at a laboratory in Patna. Once the results are in, we can determine the nature of the disease,” Dr. Singh stated.

Individuals spanning from 5 to 80 years old are grappling with this illness, encompassing a wide range of age groups among the afflicted.
