Under PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Government envisages establishing 50/75/100 bedded Critical Care Hospital Blocks in 602 districts, to provide diagnosis and treatment services for infectious diseases and to respond adequately during the public health challenges posed by the pandemics and in periods of epidemic outbreaks.

The financial total outlay for the establishment of Critical Care Hospital Blocks under the PM-ABHIM scheme during the period from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26 is Rs 19064.80 Crore. As public health & hospitals is a State subject, the implementation of the scheme lies with respective State /UT Governments. However, the Government of India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, provides technical and financial support to the states/UTs for the implementation of PM-ABHIM.

The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
