New Delhi, April 30:
A staggering 82% of Indian employees are considering changing jobs within the next 12 months, with health, wellness, and work-life balance emerging as the most sought-after benefits, according to a new report by global professional services firm Aon.
The 2025 Employee Sentiment Study, which surveyed over 9,000 employees across 23 countries including India, highlights a dramatic shift in what Indian workers value most when weighing a job switch. The top five benefits cited by Indian employees are:
-
Work-life balance
-
Medical coverage
-
Career development
-
Paid time off
-
Retirement savings
The report reveals notable generational differences: Gen Z places the highest importance on work-life balance, while Gen X and Gen Y prioritize medical benefits. Notably, 76% of Indian employees said they would be willing to trade their current benefits for more suitable offerings, signaling a significant change in employee expectations.
Nitin Sethi, Head of Talent Solutions at Aon India, commented,
“Until recently, very few companies considered how benefits, wellness, and healthcare programmes could shape their employer brand and employee value proposition. Post-Covid, we are seeing changes as employees increasingly value these programmes, and companies are more actively branding and communicating their availability to current and future employees.”
The report also found that better pay (46%), a socially responsible workplace (24%), and support for wellbeing (22%) are among the top attributes that attract talent today. Ashley D’Silva, Director of Health and Wealth Solutions at Aon India, noted the growing interest in retirement and financial planning among younger workers-a trend attributed to increased awareness of inflation and stagnating entry-level wages.
Aon’s findings underscore the need for Indian employers to realign their benefits and rewards strategies to meet the evolving expectations of a multigenerational workforce, especially as advanced technology accelerates the adoption of wellness and flexible benefits programmes.
