Kanpur, August 19, 2025 — In a deeply distressing incident, a 21-year-old nurse was found dead inside the bathroom of a private hospital in Kanpur’s Lajpat Nagar this Sunday. According to local police, preliminary evidence points towards suicide as the suspected cause.

The young woman, originally from the Siwan district of Bihar, had been working at the Kanpur hospital for the past month. For six years, she had been residing in Rawatpur with a family acquaintance, officials confirmed.

Hospital authorities reported that the nurse was on night duty. Her absence was noted during the morning shift change, prompting colleagues to begin searching the premises. She was eventually discovered in a private room bathroom on the hospital’s third floor, which was found locked from within. Security and staff broke open the door, uncovering her unresponsive on the floor.

Police recovered injections and medications at the site. Initially, investigators believe suicide by poisoning may be the cause of death. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Hospital management has yet to release an official statement.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the mental health and well-being of healthcare professionals in India.
