The setting up of 22 new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) across the country has been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). Out of the sanctioned 22 AIIMS, 6 AIIMS at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) became operational in 2012.
