Dehradun, December 13, 2024: The 10th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC 2024) and Arogya Expo commenced today in Dehradun, bringing together an impressive gathering of Ayurveda practitioners, researchers, and enthusiasts from across the globe. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) Shri Prataprao Jadhav, alongside Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Ministry of Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and Dr. Shekhar Mande, President of Vijnana Bharati.
In his inaugural address, Shri Prataprao Jadhav highlighted the pivotal role of the World Ayurveda Congress in fostering collaboration and innovation. He described the event as a confluence of minds, cultures, and advancements, especially in the realm of digital health. “Thousands have gathered here to discuss transformative ideas for healthcare through Ayurveda. This Congress underscores how traditional wisdom can intersect with modern technology to revolutionize health systems worldwide,” said Jadhav.

The biennial event, organized by the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF) in partnership with Vijnana Bharati, has attracted over 5500 Indian delegates and more than 350 international participants from 54 countries. This year’s theme, “Digital Health: An Ayurveda Perspective,” emphasizes the integration of modern technologies with Ayurveda to enhance healthcare delivery, research, and global outreach.
The Union Ayush Minister also reflected on recent initiatives, including the nationwide “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” launched on Ayurveda Day 2024, which aims to evaluate the Prakriti (constitution) of over one crore individuals based on Ayurveda principles. Jadhav urged all attendees to actively support and contribute to this groundbreaking campaign.
Focus on Innovation and Collaboration
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized the transformative role of technology in advancing Ayurveda. “With initiatives like Ayush Grid, we are leveraging tech-enabled solutions to make healthcare safer, more effective, and affordable,” he said, adding that over $1.3 billion in investments from global partners is in the pipeline to support Ayurveda’s growth.
The Congress features an extensive program, including more than 150 scientific sessions, 13 associate events, technical discussions, and plenary sessions. Highlights include an International Delegates Assembly, a Health Ministers’ Conclave, an investors’ meeting, and seminars addressing modern healthcare challenges through Ayurveda.
